(Reading) Students will be able to ask questions and clarify understanding, locate facts/details, and support with evidence . Students will be able to use ideas (e.g., illustrations, titles, topic sentences, key words, and foreshadowing) to make and confirm predictions.
(Phonics) Students will be able to review and practice the alphabet as they practice letter recognition, letter sounds, and sight words. Students will also practice spelling these letter sounds and words. Students will review phonics rules and coding symbols learned thus far this school year.
(Grammar) Students will be able to distinguish between declarative (statements) and interrogative (questions) sentences. Students will be able to distinguish sentence features while recognizing and using end punctuation. Students will be able to capitalize proper nouns, months, days, and abbreviations.
(Math) Students will be able to describe the difference between even and odd numbers.
(Science) Students will be able to investigate forces of motion.
Wednesday, January 18, 2017:
(Reading) Students will be able to identify the different parts that make a story (characters, plot, setting, problem, and solution). Students will be able to question what they read as a way to better understand the reading selection.
(Phonics) Students will be able to review and practice the alphabet as they practice letter recognition, letter sounds, and sight words. Students will also practice spelling these letter sounds and words. Students will review phonics rules and coding symbols learned thus far this school year.

(Writing) Students will be able to identify and use quotation marks properly.
(Math) Students will be able to use place value to identify 10 more and 10 less of a given number.
(Social Studies) Students will be able to identify who Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is and how his contributions made the world a better place.
Friday, January 20, 2017:
(Reading) Students will be able to analyze, make inferences, and draw conclusions about and understand text as well as provide evidence from text to support their understanding. Students will also be able to identify the main idea in a text and distinguish it from the topic.
(Phonics) Students will be able to review and practice the alphabet as they practice letter recognition, letter sounds, and sight words. Students will also practice spelling these letter sounds and words. Students will review phonics rules and coding symbols learned thus far this school year.
(Writing) Students will be able to pre-write using a writing web, organize their thoughts, and write topic sentences. Students will then be able to write a rough draft, revise and edit their draft, and write a final draft/copy. Students can also use their five senses to add details to their writing as they do their best to write a personal narrative on the middle of the year writing assessment.
(Math) Students will be able to use place value to identify 100 more and 100 less of a given number.
